Yield strategies for sUSDe and Sky Protocol

Ethena's sUSDe yielded 4.87% in October 2026 through delta-neutral funding arbitrage, while Sky Protocol's USDS offered a 3.80% savings rate. Investors must weigh Ethena's exchange counterparty risks against Sky's long-standing CDP stability and RWA-based returns.

Yield strategies for sUSDe and Sky Protocol

Ethena’s sUSDe and Symbiotic integration

Ethena’s sUSDe yielded 4.87% on October 13, 2026, according to DeFiLlama. This yield comes from funding rate arbitrage on various exchanges through a delta-neutral hedge that uses long staked ETH and short ETH perpetual futures. The USDe supply fell to $4.95B on September 28, 2026, after it hit a peak of $14.82B on October 4, 2025. Users access Symbiotic restaking through a partnership with Affine. Affine uses its Restaking Risk Engine to guide Ojo’s slashing conditions on the Symbiotic network. This collaboration provides risk-managed exposure to rewards for restakers. Ojo and Affine also work together to develop a trustless price-feed oracle for Affine’s Liquid Restaking Token, ultraETHs, on the Symbiotic network. Ethena also works with Safe to allow gas-free transactions for USDe. Users who hold USDe in a Safe Smart Account activate a 10x multiplier for Sats points. I find the seven-day cooldown for sUSDe unstaking to be a significant hurdle for liquidity. Users who need money faster can trade sUSDe directly on Curve or other DEXs, but they accept the discount the secondary market quotes. sUSDe also functions as collateral in Aave V3 and is used for yield trading on Pendle. Which venue provides the best liquidity for these trades?

Sky Protocol migration and yield gaps

Sky Protocol directs the migration from DAI to USDS. USDS is the rebranded successor to DAI launched in September 2024. USDS provides a 3.80% Sky Savings Rate as of October 13, 2026, according to DeFiLlama. Sky maintains the legacy DAI Savings Rate at a lower level to encourage users to move to USDS. The conversion from DAI to USDS works at a 1:1 ratio via the Sky upgrade contract. USDS includes a freeze function that allows centralized intervention during transfer errors or theft. Sky also restricts Sky Token Rewards and the Sky Savings Rate in countries including the US and the UK. This geographic restriction targets VPN users as well. The Sky Savings Rate is set by Sky governance based on the protocol’s net interest margin: stability-fee revenue from CDP borrowers plus T-bill yield from the RWA allocation, minus operating costs and surplus retention. I think the centralized freeze function makes USDS less attractive to privacy-focused users. Sky’s RWA partners manage the tokenized US Treasury allocation. Sky also uses SKY as a governance token to replace the MKR token. This swap converts 1 MKR to 24,000 SKY tokens. Spark Protocol, which is Sky-aligned, lists sUSDS as a first-class asset and provides low USDC borrow rates against sUSDS collateral.

Comparing risk profiles

Ethena carries counterparty risk because its hedge depends on centralized exchanges. If funding rates turn negative, the yield can disappear. In October 2025, USDe dropped to 65 cents on Binance during a market-wide liquidation cascade. The deviation was concentrated on Binance, which lacked a direct mint and redeem connection. USDe dipped to around 92 cents on Bybit and held closer to peg on Curve. Ethena carries additional offchain operational risk through its perp venues and custody providers. Sky has a longer track record with nine years of CDP operations. Sky’s onchain code has been live for nearly nine years, while Ethena’s has been live for only two years. Sky carries offchain RWA custody risk. You should compare the 4.87% sUSDe yield against the 3.80% sUSDS rate before committing capital.

sUSDe 4.87% Funding arbitrage
sUSDS 3.80% CDP and RWA
