Luxury brands drive Decentraland fashion amid token volatility

Sixty-three fashion houses including Dolce & Gabbana participated in Metaverse Fashion Week despite attendance dropping to under 50,000 visitors. MANA climbed 16% on October 2, 2026, even as the virtual land market continues to struggle with utility and speculation.

Luxury brands drive Decentraland fashion amid token volatility

Digital runways and luxury brands

The inaugural installment began with the opening of Selfridges’ Decentraland venue. I watched sixty-three fashion houses move into Decentraland during the latest Metaverse Fashion Week. Brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger occupy digital storefronts, yet LVMH and Kering brands stayed away. The event attracts fewer people than last year, with under 50,000 visitors compared to the 108,000 who attended previously. I saw technical lag and low-resolution logos during several runway shows, which frustrated users who attempted to navigate the various digital storefronts and interactive brand activations spread across thirty-nine different districts during the week. Unlike the off-chain models seen in Second Life, these digital assets exist on-chain via the Ethereum blockchain. Giuseppe Zanotti sold 1,000 limited-edition Cobra sneakers for 130 Manas, which equates to roughly $350 at current rates. DKNY offered a unisex Token Hoodie for 65 Manas, while Charles & Keith presented its Spring floral print collection that included the Koa shoulder bag and Alex sandals. Adidas presents 30,000 digital wearables, including a pink hoodie from a collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club that costs between $35 and $8,000. This Adidas collection saw a trading volume of $138.6 million since its launch in December 2021. At the Metajuku Mall, a J.P. Morgan Onyx billboard stood above a crowd wearing wings and HODL sunglasses. One hoodie at a Yahoo-presented experience retailed for 111 Mana, or roughly $286. The event hosts more than 70 participating brands, designers, influencers, and artists.

Speculation versus utility

MANA climbed 16% on October 2, 2026, despite a lack of specific project catalysts. This surge brings the token closer to a $0.10 resistance level, though it remains 98.5% below its 2021 peak. The virtual land market still struggles to move past the speculative mania that triggered the NFT land crash. While users buy LAND parcels to host events, many discover that ownership alone lacks the utility needed to drive traffic. Decentraland holds 90,601 LAND parcels, but the platform has a lower active user count of 450,000 compared to The Sandbox, which has 550,000 active users and 120,000 LAND parcels.

Token Price (USD) Supply
1 MANA $0.10 2.8 billion
10 MANA $1.00 2.8 billion
100 MANA $10.05 2.8 billion

Landowners use the LandWorks marketplace to rent out their properties. A recent proposal allows these owners to keep their VP during rental transactions. The platform has a market cap of $1.2 billion and a 30-day volume of $85 million. Users spend MANA to buy wearables and LAND, which functions as an ERC-721 token. The total supply of MANA reaches 2.8 billion tokens and makes it a prominent asset for investors. The Sandbox maintains a $1.5 billion market cap.

User experience in the metaverse

I used the virtual try-on feature at DKNY to see how a jumpsuit fits an avatar before I spent any Mana. Perry Ellis America gave away virtual tops and jackets for free to anyone with a backpack. You should realize that virtual land ownership functions more like a configurable server-backed environment than physical real estate. Philipp Plein hosted a runway show in his $1.4 million estate, where models emerged from a metallic skull to show the Pleinverse Season 1 collection developed by Crypto King$ and Antoni Tudisco. The show took place at Plein Plaza, where the designer appeared as an avatar named PhilippPlein#a40f. In the Artcade at Fred Segal, users tried on the Syzygy collection from Atari Hotel before spending Mana. The afterparty included a set from the Australian DJ duo Miriam and Olivia Nervo. VoxBox launched the VoxBox #0000 wearable on the Decentraland Marketplace. The event includes shopping for wearables, but will the demand for digital clothes sustain the platform if user numbers continue to drop?
