sUSDe yield remains stable after expansion and supply cap changes
sUSDe APY reached 4.76% as of September 28, 2026, following Ethena's expansion into RWA exposure and institutional lending. The protocol's $4.95 billion supply represents a partial recovery from a 74.7% collapse during the October 2025 liquidation event.
sUSDe yield and the expansion of collateral sources
sUSDe APY is 4.76% as of September 28, 2026, with a 30-day average of 4.79%. This yield comes from funding rate arbitrage and Ethereum staking rewards. Ethena expanded its yield sources in April 2026 to include liquid, high-quality non-T-Bill RWA exposure, which now accounts for 11.7% of USDe reserves. The protocol also uses institutional triparty collateralized lending, which constitutes 1.4% of total backing. Following the massive October 2025 liquidation event where the USDe supply plummeted from a peak of $14.82 billion to a trough of $3.75 billion, the protocol integrated new yield verticals to stabilize returns. I see the current $4.95 billion supply as a partial recovery from that 74.7% collapse. The October 10, 2025 sell-off sent USDe to 65 cents on Binance, although USDe stayed overcollateralized throughout the volatility. Users must wait a seven-day cooldown after staking USDe before they can withdraw funds. Ethena maintains its peg by holding spot crypto collateral like stETH and shorting an equal-notional perpetual futures position. This delta-neutral strategy ensures the dollar value stays flat regardless of whether ETH or BTC trades up or down. The reserve fund, which holds over $62 million, helps smooth small negative-funding intervals.
Pendle and Morpho yield strategies
Pendle shows a 4.91% APY for users interacting with sUSDe. Pendle splits sUSDe into fixed-yield PT and variable YT tokens. I prefer the PT option to lock in rates. Morpho DeFi shows a higher 15.53% APY. You should check the specific terms on Morpho before you commit your capital to such high rates. Gauntlet recommends configuring supply caps for Ethena assets on Euler Yield, such as a 40 million cap for PT-sUSDe-14JAN2026, to ensure that the available liquidity matches the expected market demand for these specific assets. This recommendation also suggests using the same Pendle PT TWAP oracle against USDe, crossed by the same push oracle used for USDe on Euler Yield. Because these assets are non-borrowable, Gauntlet notes that no interest rate models are required for the integration. For the PT-USDe-04FEB2026 asset, Gauntlet suggests a 120 million supply cap. In Pendle, the YT token allows users to take a leveraged view on funding rates, while the PT token provides a fixed yield.
Oracle manipulation risks in permissionless markets
Permissionless markets on Morpho Blue face price oracle manipulation risks. In July 2025, GMX lost $42 million because an attacker manipulated the global average short price for Bitcoin. NGP Token lost $2 million in September 2025 when a flash loan manipulated Uniswap V2/PancakeSwap reserves. These attacks exploit the fact that protocols trust the price feeds they consume. The Synthetix sKRW incident also proves that off-chain component malfunctions can reach on-chain feeds. One feed reported the Korean Won at 1000 times its real value, and the aggregation failed to suppress the outlier. The Visor hack demonstrates how an attacker uses a flash loan to swap assets and manipulate Uniswap pool reserves to inflate prices. This allows the attacker to obtain an over-proportional amount of shares before withdrawing. Avraham Eisenberg manipulated Mango Markets in October 2022, draining $117 million by using leveraged MNGO purchases to spike prices. He used one account to short 488 million MNGO while another account took the opposite side of that trade. This buying activity pushed the price of MNGO up very quickly on spot exchanges, and his account profited roughly $400 million in paper gains. Will these vulnerabilities eventually compromise the broader DeFi ecosystem?
