Arkham faces supply pressure and exchange closure challenges
Arkham faces significant sell pressure as 17,846,778 ARKM tokens prepare for an upcoming November unlock. The platform also struggles with its pivot to a $1,500 monthly enterprise paywall and the recent shutdown of its exchange due to low trading volumes.
I see Arkham struggling to maintain momentum as it faces a significant influx of new tokens and a failing exchange experiment. The upcoming November 18 unlock will release 17,846,778 ARKM tokens, which is 1.8% of the total supply and roughly 2.5% of the current market cap for this specific crypto project. This comes as Nansen recently tracked the movement of 25.2 million ARKM, valued at over $56 million, into various wallets and Binance. Nansen’s analysis showed the Arkham Multisig sent 20 million ARKM to a Safe, from which 5 million ARKM moved to a new address. Another 1 million ARKM worth $2.21 million reached Binance just one day after that move. Additionally, 2.385 million ARKM moved through four addresses to a different Binance address used for market making by GSR. These movements coincide with news that Arkham will shut down its spot and derivatives exchange because daily trading volume stayed below $1 million. This exchange failure happened after a December 2025 mobile app release failed to generate liquidity. The August 18 release was 2.7% of the market cap, while the September 18 release was 2.6%. Currently, 72.2% of the 1,000,000,000 tokens are in circulation, leaving 45 unlock events before the final release on July 18, 2030.
The $1,500 Enterprise paywall
Arkham’s pivot to an enterprise model creates friction with its user base. The company charges $1,500 per month for Arkham Enterprise, a price that limits full transaction history and filtering to paid users. Free users see only 100 recent transactions per address. I find this move risky because it abandons the transparency that built the brand. The company also moved Tracer 2.0, the tool for following funds hop by hop, to paid accounts. Creating new custom labels and viewing counterparties now also require Enterprise access. One user, Dominium, argued that the paywall could shield bad actors from scrutiny, calling the situation "Transparency for the rich." Nansen CEO Alex Svanevik mocked the move on X, suggesting users use Nansen for free instead. Arkham attempts to justify its model by citing the $3 billion lost to DeFi hacks last year, though critics remain skeptical. Meanwhile, Palantir demonstrates how application-layer AI companies capture value through implementation. Palantir’s US commercial revenue grew 137% year over year, and its revenue reached $1.41 billion. Palantir also expanded its non-GAAP operating margin to approximately 55%. While Arkham attempts to monetize its data through high fees, Palantir focuses on customer AI deployment to drive business outcomes.
Is the marketplace model sustainable?
The ARKM token trades at $0.1174 with a market capitalization of $26.43 million. Trading volume in the last 24 hours stands at $2.46 million. This price reflects the heavy sell pressure from a schedule that has already released 722,344,442 tokens. Analysts from the field predict the average trading price for ARKM in 2026 is $0.300, while the maximum price could reach $0.348. However, I would skip the bonus buy if the current volatility continues to undermine the platform’s mission. The insider buckets, which include core contributors and investors, hold 40.5% of the total supply. These groups passed a 12-month cliff in July 2024 and are now in multi-year linear vesting. The total supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens remains subject to 45 future unlock events. The market cap for the August 2026 unlock was 2.7% of the total, while the September 2026 unlock was 2.6%. The project has raised $12,000,000 in funding from backers like Sam Altman and Peter Thiel. Do the high-profile backers see the same risks in the current liquidity profile?
