OpenSea integrates Seaport 1.6 hooks

OpenSea transitioned its user base to Seaport 1.6 on March 25th to utilize "Seaport hooks" enabled by the Ethereum Dencun upgrade. These hooks allow developers to deploy arbitrary contracts that react to sales during fulfillment. Developers can use the TSTORE opcode to make these applications cost-efficient. One application includes sourcing liquidity from any onchain location rather than just the buyer or seller wallets. Programmable NFTs can also change metadata in reaction to sale volume. OpenSea stopped accepting Seaport 1.5 orders through its API on April 1st. The platform also added Arbitrum support on September 21. You already know that gas fees dictate marketplace preference. The Seaport protocol allows users to bundle ETH and NFTs together to buy a new NFT, which enables more granular trades by allowing users to specify individual NFTs or certain traits in a trade. This protocol also allows users to make collection offers to purchase NFTs without spending money on bid cancellation fees and bid transactions. The marketplace allows users to trade ETH, ERC-20, ERC-721, and ERC-1155 items. Users can also include tips in their listings that go to the person they exchange the NFT with. Seaport remains 34.8% more cost-effective than the Wyvern protocol. Using Seaport also eliminates the account initialization fee, which saves approximately $120 million each year.

Rival marketplaces and Bitcoin volume

Magic Eden recorded $100 million in trading volume for Bitcoin Ordinals this month. Bitcoin NFTs now constitute almost two-thirds of the trading volume on the Magic Eden platform. Popular collections like NodeMonkes saw floor prices rise 105% to $20,800. Puppets floor prices increased by 130% in the same period. NodeMonkes claims to be the original 10,000-item collection inscribed on Bitcoin. While inscriptions allow developers to mimic Ethereum smart contract functionality on Bitcoin, some veteran developers dismiss these transactions as spam that clogs the blockchain. Magic Eden launched in September 2021 and initially supported only Solana-based collections. It now supports Polygon, Bitcoin, and Ethereum blockchains.

Metric Value
Seaport gas savings vs Wyvern 34.8%
Annual account initialization savings $120 million
NodeMonkes floor price increase 105%
Puppets floor price increase 130%
Bitcoin Ordinal volume $100 million

Blur used a token airdrop scheme to inflate sales volume and attract customers to its marketplace. This strategy helped Blur compete against rivals. NodeMonkes is worth $208 million, while the Bored Ape collection holds a value of $773 million. OpenSea, which has settled $32.34 billion in all-time sales, already integrates with Polygon and Solana.

Lending automation and market dynamics

Blend Autopilot improves lending efficiency for its users. Lenders running Autopilot close between 110 and 115 loans for every 100 loans they closed previously. The median submit-to-close conversion rose by 10% to 15% for these lenders. These results came from the first three months of live production involving 175,000 loans across 24 different cohorts. Autopilot performs document review, income verification, guideline checks, and borrower follow-up in parallel. This process ensures applications a lender already paid to acquire fund instead of falling out. OpenSea CEO Devin Finzer stated that the company might consider acquisition proposals if the right partnership appears. Will OpenSea ultimately choose to remain an independent marketplace? Global NFT sales stay on pace to exceed $1 billion for the second consecutive month.
