Aave liquidity concentration and Monad expansion

Aave V3 maintains a 62.8% market share of DeFi liquidity with $3.83 billion in deposits. The Monad Foundation has committed $15 million in incentives to support the Aave V3.7 deployment and GHO liquidity seeding.

Aave liquidity concentration and Monad expansion

Aave V3 holds $3.83 billion of the $6.1 billion deposited across 29 DeFi venues, which represents a 62.8% market share that no competitor matches even as liquidity flows through several different decentralized protocols and many separate, independent blockchains. This concentration means Aave V3 vacuums up most stablecoin liquidity, leaving other venues with only 37% of the total. Aave V3 supports USDT0, a Tether omnichain variant using LayerZero technology and a burn-and-mint model licensed by Tether. This asset processed $85 billion in lifetime bridge volume by late August 2026. The Aave V3.7 deployment on Monad supports 12 assets, including USDC, USDT0, and GHO, using efficiency modes for higher loan-to-value ratios. On October 5, Aave raised GHO borrowing costs on its Ethereum Core market to 4.5% to address depleted USDC GHO Stability Module reserves. The Monad Foundation committed $15 million in first-year incentives to support this deployment, including a plan to acquire 10 million GHO tokens to seed liquidity. While these incentives jumpstart adoption, investors must watch organic borrowing demand rather than raw TVL.

Social graph integration and Horizon growth

Stani Kulechov, the founder of Aave, developed Lens Protocol, a modular social graph on Polygon. Users control their content using Profile NFTs that enable posts, comments, and mirrors across the Lensverse. This modularity allows creators to maintain communities across different social applications without establishing new communities. Users set follow modules to determine if a fee applies or if following remains free. Creators also select from various collect modules, such as Limited Fee Collect or Timed Fee Collect, to monetize publications. Publications include original content, comments, and mirrors, with mirrors allowing users to re-amplify content within the ecosystem. Within the Aave ecosystem, the Horizon market on V3 facilitates institutional borrowing using assets like MMFs and CLOs. Horizon reached $600 million in net deposits and $200 million in borrowed assets recently. This growth proves the demand for permissioned assets in DeFi. Can the social connectivity of Lens provide the next layer of liquidity for Aave?

Parameter Value/Detail
GHO Monad Incentives $15 million
GHO Seeding Amount 10 million GHO
Horizon Net Deposits $600 million
Horizon Borrowed $200 million
GHO Borrow APR 4.5%
USDT0 Bridge Volume $85 billion

Compound migration and Spark dependencies

Compound attempts to move USDC users from V2 to V3 by adjusting COMP distributions and reserve factors. To incentivize migration, the community increases the V2 USDC reserve factor from 7.5% toward 22.5%. In early 2023, the net V2 USDC supply APY was 2.36%, while the V3 rate was 2.41%. Borrowers also see differences, as the net V2 USDC borrow APY was 1.77% against a 1.39% V3 rate. The community also aims to migrate 100% of V2 USDC COMP distribution to V3. To grow the protocol, the community increases supply caps for ETH to 350,000 tokens and WBTC to 12,000 tokens. The community also adjusts the storefront price factor from 50% to 60% before decreasing it to 55% to ensure reserve growth. MakerDAO manages the Spark Protocol, which delivers liquidity through sDAI and SparkConduits. Spark participants act as borrowers, suppliers, or liquidators. You should watch if Spark’s reliance on MakerDAO liquidity affects its ability to scale independently.
